Many people think of Los Angeles as a industrial city with no vegetation or farms. The truth about Los Angeles is that it contains beautiful green spaces and vegetation, This is due to have a variety of different kinds of soil. The first type is sandy soils which occur naturally in Southern California. This type of soil is very poor because it contains over 80% of sand, so it does not retain water very well. The other type of soil is Loam. Loam is the best kind of soil to grow plants. It has a perfect balance between sand, silt, and clay. Loam is found in a lot of places in Los Angeles. It is found in the Saint Monica Mountains , and in the valleys of San Gabriel. Most of the gardens we see in Los Angeles contain Loam in any kind of way. Due to Los Angeles having one the best soils, it has lots of green spaces. Almost every house in Los Angeles has a lawn and one the most beautiful parks in the Griffith Park is situated in Los Angeles. It is one of the largest urban parks in North America.
